Music that Moves Me

5in5 Day One

Haha So, since we didn’t have enough going on, we decided to participate in the 5 in 5 songwriting challenge hosted by Dan White. (Our good friends Ryan and Charity peer-pressured us… but it’s OK because in this case, it’s good for us.) 😉

The goal is to write 5 songs in 5 days. Each song is supposed to be freshly written, recorded, and posted every day – no cheating with old hooks or material.

This is our first day’s song, called Road Rash. It’s inspired by a picture I posted on Instagram today of my two girls’ faces.

Kurt came home with the theme and we ran with it. Day one. Check! I’ve posted the Lyrics below!

I’ll post soon about our Serbia update – leaving in just over 3 weeks!

Also the eBook which is coming along nicely.

Cuz I’m so ADD. 😉 ❤

Road Rash – Kurt and Emily Wagoner

When was the last time that you fell flat on your face?
Maybe the next time you’ll find a better way not to play it safe
When was the last time that you threw caution away?
Maybe the next time will be the right time to take your place

Cuz it’s a long way down when you’re standing tall
With no safety net there to break your fall
And a crowd nearby with a smile in their eyes
But the child don’t care, she’s just running free
With her hair all wild in the summer breeze
I hope one day that girl will be me
Playing in the tall grass
Face full of road rash

When was the last time you had a leg in the race?
Maybe it’s past time, get on the front line and set the pace

Yes, it’s a long way down…

It’s a cliché to say tomorrow’s another day. You’ve gotta find the strength to go and make your way
It’s a cliché to say tomorrow’s another day. You’ve gotta find the strength to fall flat on your face

Cuz the child don’t care, she’s just running free
With her hair all wild in the summer breeze
I know someday that girl will be me
Playing in the tall grass, face full of road rash
