Serbia Update! Summer 2019!

Hey my family. Yeah, that’s you, following this crazy journey of ours. It’s too late. We’ve invited you in, so you may as well take a seat. 😉 They’re comfy, I promise.

It occurs to me that I haven’t written an update about Serbia in a really long time! Obviously, this year took a different course than I’d originally expected, but we have a perfect Shepherd, and He is leading us on a path that makes perfect sense to Him.

The short story is, we have decided not to take the whole family to the Balkans this year.

The last two years have been an incredible gift that we have learned not to take for granted as the norm. There are a lot of nuances and details, but ultimately obedience works both ways, right? We say yes to Him when it’s something we want to do, and we say yes to Him when it’s something we don’t want to do.

(How do you know what He’s saying?? Different blog post, friends. Also I’m no expert, but we’re surrounded by an amazing community of Lord-listeners, so that helps a lot.)

The great news is, Kurt is still going!

He and an amazing team of musicians are going to do our now 4th Annual Rock and Roll Camp! The team will leave at the end of this month to put on the camp alongside a team of our Serbian brothers and sisters, and they’ll do the Open Days concert as well. It’ll be a 10 day trip, since travel generally takes two days each way.

So, part of my heart will still be in Serbia this summer, and that’s so comforting to me.

Each year has gotten better and better, and I have no doubt that will be the case this summer. They are all so looking forward to serving the team, serving those kids, and serving the community in Novi Sad.

Those of you who have been journeying with us these past few years, there are still ways you can be involved!

Pray:

Pray for the team as they prepare to leave in TWO short weeks! Pray for health and for provision and for their families here in Omaha.

Pray for the students who are signing up for camp! Pray that their hearts would be softened to receive unconditional love and affirmation. Pray that they would remain healthy and safe, and pray that their families would feel drawn toward the Lifegate community in Novi Sad.

Pray for the team in Serbia. Pray for a fresh grace to fill them today. Pray for their health and provision as well as they work on their end to secure locations, gear, and supplies for the camp. Pray for favor with the Serbian government and for peace and protection.

Thank you so much. Your prayers move mountains. I’ve seen it.
