A Very Belated March Update

Ok, admitedly, I’ve fallen WAY behind on our monthly prose-length updates, and for that, I apologize. Please forgive me?

If you’re not following us on Instagram or Facebook, please join us! I am much more consistent on those platforms. As it is, I’ll do my best to fill in the blanks on my blog and get into more of a consistent schedule. (For what it’s worth, I am very consistently inconsistent. lol)

To avoid a 12 page essay on the past few months’ happenings, I’ll break this into a few blog posts, but I’ll schedule them out in order to keep my promises. Hopefully that’s ok? 🙂

Anywhooo… March!

The late winter/spring was tough for the Wagoner family. Being away from family for Christmas and during the darker months was more challenging than we’d anticipted. The winter days are very short in terms of sunlight (because of where we sit in the time zone), and all of us are affected by the shortened days. Without all of the systems we’ve built in Omaha to “prop ourselves up,” were feeling very homesick. Fortunately, with the support of our friends and leaders both here and in Omaha, we learned so much.

Aside from our February stay-cation at Fruška Terme, Kurt and I decided to take a trip in March to honor a long-made promise to our girls. Before we came to Serbia, we promised them we’d go to Disneyland in Paris, and they were so patient. So, in March, we finally found the opportunity to make that trip!

We spent a few days in Paris, seeing all of the sights together. Annabelle, of course, figured out the incredible engineering feat that is the Paris Metro with no problem at all. We visited the Lourve on a particularly chilly day, and saw most of the rest of the city before heading out to Serris by train.

Disneyland Paris was a dream. It was the perfect size and checked all of our boxes, and the girls were absolutely delighted. It was a trip none of us will ever forget. We were so happy to be able to fulfill this promise to them. They’ve been such warriors through this whole move – staying flexible and willing to give up familiarity and friends to embrace this adventure with us as a family. Paris was such a sweet reminder and a gift. (Even though it was cold. lol)

The rest of March was fairly business-as-usual, and still quite cold. But it did feel good to be back in Novi Sad.

Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support.

Just a few ongoing prayer requests regarding our girls:

  1. Anorah is doing so much better, now that it’s summer, but the late winter and spring was really emotionally difficult. We continue to ask the Lord for wisdom concerning her needs – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We also need wisdom regarding schooling for her this coming fall. She needs something more specialized than what she had last year, so pray for opportunities and wisdom about that, too.
  2. Vienna now seems to be experiencing panic attacks this summer. Pray for her peace of mind, body, and spirit. She isn’t prone to these types of things, so please pray her emotions level out, and she’s able to retain her care-free innocense through these many transitions.
  3. We also need prayer for wisdom regarding Annabelle and her schooling. She’s very interested in going to a Serbian private school this year (all in Serbian), but there are several hoops to jump through. Hopefully we can get ahold of her official transcripts now that it’s August, but we need wisdom to know what’s best for her.

Thank you all so much for your prayers! This community means the world to us, and we could not and would not want to do this without you! 🙂 More updates coming soon! ❤
